LEGAL ASSISTANT / CASE WORKER – PERSONAL INJURY

Location: Cardiff South Wales

Salary: Competitive, DOE

Purpose of job:

Due to continued expansion, a vacancy exists for a LEGAL ASSISTANT / CASE WORKER  in our Personal Injury  department within our Clifton Street, Cardiff office.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

The Legal Assistant / Case Worker will provide a total support service to the Fee Earner[s], enabling them to operate at optimum efficiency with the facilitation of personal injury claims and deliver the highest service level possible to our clients.

The Legal Assistant / Case Worker is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative:

To assist with the caseload of the Fee Earner[s]

To assist with the fast track and multi track Personal Injury RTA /EL/ PL caseload

To assist with the management of the caseload

To prioritise work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices

To draft and prepare correspondence and documents including legal documents by  word processing or digital dictation methods.

To utilise the case management system effectively and ensuring that time spent is accurately recorded if necessary as well as ensuring all payments made and received are processed appropriately.

To understand client requirements and manage cases in line with best practice to ensure the best outcome is achieved for the client acting at all times in their best interest

To attend to clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such communication in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the practice's standards for client care

To build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a grounded understanding of the Firms direction and client needs

To administer filing systems which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the office manual

To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch.

To use audio typing at times,

To arrange for all copying to be done

To provide support to Junior secretaries and other secretaries as required

To undertake any specific training when required to do so and take responsibility for own self-development

To ensure the confidentiality of all practice and client documentation and information

To promote the practice when and where possible

To maintain professional standards at all times

To carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be required by the Partner[s] as the above list is not exhaustive and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role with the Firm and the overall business objectives of the Firm.

Experience Required:

Ideally would be able to use the MOJ portal.

Ideally would be able to assess injury compensation values.

Ideally would be familiar with Court procedure and process.

Must be competent in Microsoft Office, word and excel.

Experience in diary management and client service.

Confident communicator with good telephone manner.

Self motivation and excellent organisational skills.

Ability to prioritise work in order to meet tight deadlines.
